Tomato Salsa

A simple, lightly cooked tomato salsa with onion, garlic, and fresh coriander — fresh yet mellow, perfect as a topping or dipping sauce.

Yield: approx. 500 ml (about 2 cups) | Prep: 10 min | Cook: 5 min | Total: 15 min

Ingredients

  • 400 g (14.1 oz / about 1 2/3 cups) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, pressed
  • 1 dl (⅖ cup / about 3 tbsp) chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 tsp honey
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp herb salt

Instructions

  1. Add the chopped onion to a saucepan.
  2. Cook over low heat with the lid on until the onion is soft and translucent.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes, garlic, coriander, honey, salt, and herb salt.
  4. Stir well and cook gently for about 3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Tips & Variations

  • Serve warm or chilled, depending on use.
  • Works well as a topping for patties, or grain dishes.
